Adaptive Exercises for the Summer

Summer is here and it’s time to get outside. Being outside in the sun can boost your mood, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to bring your exercise outdoors! Here at ExercisAbilities, we aim to help our clients become happier, healthier, and live a more independent lifestyle. Exercise is important for people with all abilities at every stage of life. Many exercises can be accomplished from a seated position or with the assistance of tools such as Nordic sticks, chairs, wheelchairs, or adaptive sports equipment. Here are some that you can try out this summer…
Adaptive Cardiovascular Exercises
These adaptive exercises get your heart rate up and will increase your endurance. Some great adaptive cardio exercises are biking, dancing, swimming, water aerobics, adaptive sports, walking, or aqua jogging. ExercisAbilities puts on a Walk With a Doc event every month where everyone is welcome!
Adaptive Flexibility Exercises
Flexibility exercises enhance your range of motion and can reduce pain. A flexibility exercise that you can do outside is adaptive yoga, we have a video that you can follow along with: EA Adaptive Yoga.
Adaptive Sports
This is another great way to get exercise in during the summer. ExercisAbilities has adaptive sports teams that you or your child can sign up for. Some of the camps that are available are Adaptive Strength and Conditioning – Adult, Adaptive Strength and Conditioning – Youth, and Fit4 Play.
We are here to help you find adaptive exercises that work best for you and help lead to a happier, healthier, and more independent life.
