How do I know if adaptive strength training is right for me?

July 29, 2022MelanieFitness ConsultingMedical FitnessMotivation

If you, or someone you care about, have a physical disability, you may have had difficulty finding a gym that is designed for your unique needs. You are not alone. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), 1 in 4 adults in the U.S. are living with some form of physical or mental disability; however, there are limited options available for accessible fitness services, especially for adaptive athletes to improve performance in their sport. This is why we created our Adaptive Athlete Strength and Conditioning program.

We know that your physical health and fitness is important, and having training, programs, and equipment created with all mobility levels in mind is essential for you to achieve your fitness goals. We have a state-of-the-art facility that features some of the most innovative designs used for adaptive sports and strength training. From a barrier free entrance to accessible equipment, you will know from the moment that you arrive that ExercisAbilities is a place that you belong. In addition, our personal trainers are therapeutic health specialists with advanced certifications and training in inclusive fitness and health coaching, and they will make sure that all of your questions are answered, concerns are addressed, and goals are achieved with compassion, commitment, and dignity. We provide one-on-one and group options that align with your fitness and health goals.

But don’t take our word for it, Phoebe, can’t say enough great things about her sessions at EA.  “I love to achieve new things and my new healthy diet.  I have lost 52 pounds since coming here!  I love using the Elliptical best and love to get stronger too.”  When asked what her favorite thing about EA is, she says, ”  I love seeing my friends here and the staff – they always crack me up!”

Whether you are looking to improve your stamina, decrease your chance of injury, or improve your edge for wheelchair sports programs or special olympics, we are dedicated to making sure that you are comfortable and confident striving for your goals.

Regardless of your fitness goals, developing habits for a healthy lifestyle can be achieved through group and individual exercise training. In addition to our Adaptive Athlete Strength and Conditioning program for wheelchair athletes and special athletes, we offer a plethora of inclusive wellness options for all ages.
