We love the physical therapy we do here at EA Therapeutic Health. Getting to be part of a client’s journey to better health is what keeps us coming back each day.
It is heartwarming to us when clients say that we have had a positive impact on their lives. It helps us to know that we are doing the kind of work we have set out to do-providing an effective, holistic approach to healing. In this post, we will share an authentic testimonial from one of our clients named Dallas.
Dallas’s Challenge
Many years ago, Dallas was hit by a car. This led to significant damage to his left foot and head. He ended up having several reconstructive surgeries on his foot and was able to eventually recover and live a typical life. He was even able to become a long distance running enthusiast.
In more recent years, Dallas began to experience problems in his foot which included frequent spasming. After being seen at the Mayo Clinic, it was determined that the spasming was happening because of the brain injury he sustained from being hit by the car all those years ago. The damage to his brain was making it so the communication lines to his foot, were crossed; leading to the spasming.
There were two surgeries suggested that were to help with the spasming. He underwent only the first one as the doctor deemed the second one as unnecessary for him.
After being told that the future wasn’t bright for his foot- Dallas was left feeling discouraged.
EA’s Solution
We at EA Therapeutic Health do not shy away from any challenge. Because of this, we knew that we could help Dallas through our neurologic physical therapy approach to movement improvement. With our positive attitude, we assured him right away that things could get better. Then, we used a person-centered approach to create his therapy plan.
Each session involved him doing exercises that were specifically made for his situation. Although there were a few different physical therapy staff that worked with him, we were all in sync and knew his plan. Along with the exercises at our rehab-oriented gym, we also made sure to provide patient education. This meant that we informed him about the exercises he was doing and how they were helping him.
Since we want physical therapy to yield long-term results, we provided Dallas with exercises to do at home. This was so that his health and wellness journey could continue when not in our care.
Dallas’s Experiences and Results
Upon first starting up with EA Therapeutic Health, Dallas was met with positivity and encouragement. This led to him feeling more hopeful that things could change for the better. Being able to lift him up out of the low point in his life is a testament to the mental health benefits of physical therapy.
With our prescribed exercise plan for Dallas, he showed improvements in a short amount of time. As treatment went on, he continued to heal and had a sense of wellbeing after each session. The flexibility in his foot increased as did his confidence level for using it.
After being armed with exercises to do at home, Dallas moved to monthly rechecks so that we could monitor his progress with less frequent visits. What did he have to say to us before his last regular therapy day?
“My life has improved so much by receiving your services. I realize the ball is in my court now to continue to improve-or at least-retain- my improvements as I battle oncoming age. I write this email to thank you for EA and your fantastic staff.”
Recently, Dallas has returned to try a new device, the Neubie, with our physical therapy team to focus on neurologic recovery of the foot and brain injury. The Neubie is showing great potential in escalating neurologic recovery and healing potential in the setting of otherwise chronic problems.
In Conclusion
Dallas was feeling disheartened by the state of his foot. He felt as though things couldn’t get better for him. We at EA Therapeutic Health knew that wasn’t true and that with our physical therapy expertise, we would be able to improve his condition. With his personalized intervention, he was able to make progress towards rehabilitation and be set up for success after his time with us was to end.
It is real stories like Dallas’s that inspire us to keep providing our clients with high quality physical therapy services and make positive differences in their overall health.
